Ring Locker for Workshop, 2021

This idea kicked around in my mind and notebooks for around for about six years before it came to be — remembering my mom’s rings in the flour on the kitchen counter, taking my own rings off for woodworking: What if I had a tiny cabinet right by the light switch? By my apron on its hook? A place to put my rings as part of the roll-up-my-sleeves ritual? (For my safety, and theirs!) This tiny thing used skills I’ve picked up from different disciplines, like jewelry making, stained glass cutting, and framing. Interesting to see them come together in something new. Now I want one by the garden hose, by the cookbooks… where would you put one?
